The Ecuadorian government is going to start bidding for the oil exploitation of blocks 80, 84, 85, 86 and 87 located in the province of Pastaza and overlapping the Andwa, Shiwiar, Achuar, Sapara and Kichwa territories of Kawsak Sacha. The Kawsak Sacha people reject these extractive activities in their territory since they directly affect their communities. They demand respect for their rights and support for their plans to control and use their resources in a sustainable manner with low impact on the ecosystem.

During December 2023, we held a collection to send some clothes, toys, notebooks and sweets to the Kausak Sacha community. Due to the security situation in the country, there were some changes that did not allow us to collect for the start of classes. Now that we are better organized, we are working on projects for this new year.

The first contact that became friendchip and a project El primer contacto que se convirtió en friendchip y proyecto     We had the opportunity to meet with a group of women who came from the Amazon summoned by their indigenous leaders to ask the government to take care of their needs. For these people the arrival in the capital has been very difficult, having to fight with the weather, not having a place to sleep, many are elderly, small children also arrived, they came to be present but they have been fought like enemies. These women were found on the streets after having spent several days on the street, enduring cold, rain and hunger, one of them has a baby who is now recovering from pneumonia due to the cold at night, the rain and exhaust fumes from the bombs she received. Solidarity hands have helped them and now they share with us the reasons for their struggle, with tears in their eyes they tell us that they had to leave their children alone on their land, they came with their husbands, their eldest sons, brothers, they saw one of them die theirs in Puyo in the hands of the police. In Quito many of them are in hospitals with serious injuries, others prisoners and others disappeared. This is the reality that the government does not tell you, that is not said in the news, they have criminalized this just protest, they have called them lazy and even drug traffickers.Do they really believe that these poor people are lazy, criminals or drug traffickers? Can there be peace without social justice?
